Blacksmithing - Making a Forged Steel Dish
Follow along as I make a forged dish out of 100x10mm steel bar stock. This is more of an art piece than a functional object, a project that popped into my brain one day. A fun process that shows how the forging can create the design elements by itself.

Blacksmithing - Forging Swedish Style Hammers
Переглядів 298 тис.Місяць тому
I make two forging hammers based on the traditional Swedish pattern. The common cross peen and a matching straight peen hammer. For these I use the drift I made earlier to create eyes that match the factory made handles that I have access to. Interested in my new gas forge? Blacksmithing - Forging a Hammer Drift (for factory made handles)
Переглядів 124 тис.2 місяці тому
In this video I make a hammer drift that is used to drift the eye when you forge a hammer. It's just a tapered oval shape, and you can use any dimension you like, but I make this one to fit two sizes of factory made handles. It involves a lot of grinding to get it right, but in the end it fits like a glove! Check out my recommended tools/gear: www.amazon.com/shop/torbjornahman If you like my vi...
Blacksmithing - The Oil Lamp Experiment!
Переглядів 646 тис.4 місяці тому
In this video I forge a pair of oil lamps from a piece of steel pipe. A fun project that involves a bit of metal turning as well as brazing. The end result was a bit unexpected but unique! The inspiration for this video came from a facebook post by Jim Whitson - The Blazing Blacksmith. Check him out here: theblazingblacksmith blazingblacksmith.co.uk/ Check out my recommended tools/...
Blacksmithing - Forging a Scroll Pendant

Watch me forge a scroll pendant! I stumbled upon a facebook post by Reinis Pētersōns, a couple of week ago where he showed something very similar. It was so nice I decided to give it a try myself. Check him out here: reinis.petersons.902 BalticFlames/posts/1097253494149970 I also feature a project book, made by my friend Oliver M. Christensen, @ShapingSilver . You can ...

Blacksmithing - Making glass blowing jacks
Переглядів 209 тис.8 місяців тому
In this video I make a pair of glass blowing jacks. It's probably the most used and most versatile tool in the glass blowers tool arsenal. At the same time it's also a super specialized tool. I had great fun making this one and my friends at Bergdalahyttan seemed to like my finished product! I was fortunate enough to get invited to Tormek for their "Sharp makers meet 2023", along with several other very talented makers. We spent a day focused around sharpening and listened to how Tormek as a company has evolved over the years, as well as the massive impact it has had on peoples careers! I tried to capture a few clips from this wonderful day here. Check out my recommended tools/gear...

magnificent art plate i like the stippling effect the power hammer made .
You are by far one of my most favorite blacksmiths that has blessed us with video content. Great work, straight to the point, no annoying overlaying music or chit chat. Thank you good sir!!
Sweet, thank you!
My son and I watched this one. I said, "I don't watch him to learn how to make stuff. I just enjoy watching an artist show off his skill sometimes."
Just gorgeous work!! Cheers,
very nice. i buy. how much
So impressive!
Nice work, brother.
Exelente tu trabajo y tu edición. Gracias por compartir
Another amazing Masterpiece, as usual...thank You for sharing your artwork
👊😎👍 WOW
And you never have to be afraid that it breaks if you drop it. You should be more anxious about your floor or feet :D
Thank you
Noice, different, unusual. I like it. PS. not a spelling error, just a quote from an old Aussie TV comedy show. I do love your videos, even if I'm a little slow to getting to them.
Cool, thanks!
Wonderful job… I also have a custom dish for resting my balls
Ну просто нету слов, мастер класс!
Jag har tittat på dina videor länge och slutar aldrig att beundra ditt arbete. Tack för ännu en release.)
Tack!!
Отличная работа, молодец!
Magnificent rendering! Masterful blacksmithing!
Excelente trabajo de forja maestro ,sus trabajos son espectaculares !!!
That's what you call a "Tool For Life" . As someone who has trained in metalworking (5 years apprenticeship) I can appreciate your art/craftsmanship.
The only dish on the planet that will survive the apocalypse. But it's beautiful!
A pleasure to watch. Why do you heat the rivets like that instead of in a forge?
Thanks! What do you mean? I heat them in the coal forge.
@@torbjornahman Sorry if I wasn't specific enough. I mean using coal as a fuel instead of propane or similar. Are you trying to transfer some carbon to the steel's surface (carburizing) or is it just a convenient way to heat them?
Heating small stuff like this is a waste in the gas forge. A coal forge is much more versatile, like how you can control the size of the fire. You can never transfer carbon in the fire without special arrangements.
Inappropriate music.
How do you mean?
Electric drill? After all the effort at start. Using moden stuff to help make.... Unsure about video now.
Why not?
@torbjornahman as i said - all the effort at start doing it the ood school way. Then for some reason starts using modern drill....for only 1 hole each bit. Why!?
For precision! I need to line up the holes to match the punched ones within half a millimeter or so. Very difficult to do on pieces like this, punching and drifting.
I hate decorative bowls. Good job 👍
I'm so bad at making useless things. lol
Ha ha...
Beautiful piece! Just don’t make your wife mad. You don’t want to be on the receiving end of that flying dish!
Awesome as always 😮
Beautiful piece of art! Amazing work as always!
Freekin AWESOME dude! Thank you for having this channel.
Thank you!
I really like the dish, bit I think I’d have knocked off the four corners, perhaps by rounding them a bit.
Have you, or a family member started working glass, too? Beautiful metal and beautiful glass are synergistic. Thank you for sharing your skill and creativity.
Thanks, no, but I would love to try some more.
What a Beauty!
It's great that it can be assembled and disassembled. Does it work with no problems so far? Any information about the box size and what machine the green blower you use is? Thank you.
Nothing in the video is of importance, just get building! The air source I use is a vacuum that has an exhaust port, but a hair dryer or any fan with some pressure will do! Even manual bellows work too.
New forge? Looks like a great addition to the shop.
Era ora che publicavi qualcosa aspettavo bella lavorazione come sempre 💪👍
Beautiful!
Pomysłowe i ładnie wykonane. Chyba tylko bym nitom z wierzchu nadał strukturę tacki.
🤔
🤔
I've thought about getting a shipping container and making a workshop. I'd like it to be wider so putting two side by side and removing the middle sides between the two containers would work. I've seen some old mobile homes for sale and thinking that might be more cost effective. Nice to see the kids getting in on the action. When I was a kid nothing was better than helping out with things. Made me feel all grown up and useful.
At this point I would weld it but this is much more elegant.
Steel plates and rivets remembers me the fleet of early 20th century or orcs technologies Great work as always
Bonjour Ami lointain : toujours là a regarder vos videos ! Cordialement !
A piece of art.
Excellent work!!
Genio. Hermosa obra de arte
Beautiful!! So very beautiful!
What a life!
I felt my upper body shake just looking at that die-grinder insertion 😂
:)
